Christmas is right around the corner!

The Grooming elves were busy freshening up the trails for the weekend after 3-4" of snow through the week.  Temps never got quite as cold as in town and the snow groomed up beautifully.

Trails groomed:  Moose Flats, Crow Creek, Barn Road, Race Park, Middle Fork, Becker Trail, Haul Road to SG, Pennys, Outlaw and all of SG East including Granny's Cutoff.

The Highway and Dog Trail were also groomed.  No tracks set on the dog trail but its in good shape.

More snow is in the forecast for Christmas Day, (Sunday) and again on Tuesday.  We will be resetting the trails as needed throughout  the Holiday weekend.

    Merry Christmas!

The Groomers hit the trails on Friday, 12/16.

Trails Groomed: Moose Flats, Crow Creek, Barn Road, Race Park, Middle Fork, the Highway, (ski side and snowmobile side), Haul Road to SG, SG East, Penny's, Becker trail and Outlaw.

    Trails not groomed:

    Dog Trail

Bitter cold temps are coming the middle of this week! While it is likely that it will be warmer at Pahaksa than it is in town, there will still likely be single-digit temps and rounds of heavy snow.  If you go, be prepared and have the necessary clothing and equipment to be out for an extended period of time.

There's potential for a good amount of snow this week, so depending on the forecast and outcome, the groomers will plan on which day(s) they will be up, but they plan to have trails ready for the Christmas weekend.

    See you on the trails,

a few inches of snow fell through the week. All trails were reset with full track and skate lanes, including the highway to the Park.  The Park Groomer came over from Lake so the skating up the pass should be great this weekend.

The Dog Trail was refreshed and widened and is in good shape. One good way to access the dog trail is to park in the highway pullout just before you reach Pahaska. This saves a walk back across the highway bridge.

One note about Dogs on the highway; please plan to pick up your dog's waste and throw it off the groomed trail. Rex Brown is not a good wax to have on your skis, it makes them doggy... (Dad joke)

    See you on the trail.

Pahaska received 12-14" of new snow over the last few days. The Grooming crew was busy packing down trails yesterday.

    Trails Groomed:

Moose Flats, Barn Road, Crow Creek, Race Park, Middle Fork, Penny's, Becker Trail, Haul Road to SG, SG East.

    Trails Not Groomed:

    Outlaw Trail

The Dog trail was groomed and is in good shape and ready to ski. There are some early-season conditions on it but overall is in very good and ready for you to explore. There is no track yet, only a packed surface. Simply walk East, (Back downriver long the highway) across the river bridge to the end of the guard rail, where you'll see a red sign post. The trail is a loop, or can be skied out and back.

The weather looks like we will have cool temps and sun/dry conditions for a few days, and then get back into a storm cycle, so keep  doing your snow dances!.

Pahaska received 12 inches of snow yesterday. Trails were rolled. No tracks. Soft surface. Still snowing when groomers left. No grooming today . May get out in the very early morning tomorrow to continue to pack and possibly track, depends on how much snow comes today.

The groomers touched up all the trails and worked to put out signage on gthe trails. Tracks were removed in some areas to preserve snow conditions and flatten the surface.

Trails groomed with Track and skate lane:

Moose Flats, Crow Creek, Barn Road, Race Park, Middle Fork, Haul Road to 3-mile hill, Penny's., Becker Trail

Intermittent track: Middle Fork, Haul Road to SG,

SG East should be good skating. No track set.

As temps warm over the week, be aware of thin, early season conditions.

The Porta-potties are behind the Old Pahaksa Lodge.

The Highway barricades are up, but no skiing on the highway yet.

The dog trail has been improved from last year and packing has started but its pretty thin.

Lots of wildlife still frequenting the area, use caution.

No more grooming will be done until the next storm brings more snow.

    Have fun and Happy Thanksgiving,

    The Groomers

Well, just like that... It's ski season! Last week, Pahaska received around 14-15" of high-moisture snow, which was rolled and packed on all the trails. Cold nightly temps set the trails up nicely and allowed the Groomers to use the snow cat to begin shaving trails and actually set track.  This is the earliest that the trails have ever been groomed! Compared to last year, when trails were not groomed until the second week of December, so this is allowing another month of skiing!

Despite very good snow, there are many early-season obstacles that exist.  A few bare spots (Low on Middle Fork Trail), and the occasional stick or rock poking out of the snow. Also, the trails are still roly and off-camber as there not yet enough snow to flatten bumps. There are still slushy and icy spots where water has been flowing in the Frog Pond area and on the far end of the loop on Crow Creek, nevertheless, its pretty darn good for November!

The highway is still being plowed to the East Gate, so skiing on the road is not yet an option.  We ask that dog owners refrain from taking their dogs on the trails. We will begin packing the dog-friendly trail East of the highway Bridge this week.

Wildlife is still frequenting the area. There are Elk, Moose and Bison on the trails.  Someone reported bear tracks a few miles down the valley, so take precautions.

As of today, there are no Porta-Potties yet, but we hope to get them up before next weekend.

    Trails groomed with track:

Moose Flats, Crow Creek, Barn Road, Race Park, Middle Fork, Outlaw Trail, Penny's, Haul Road (to Sleeping Giant). Track set East of SG to Hill.

Becker Trail and SG East have been rolled but not yet groomed.

Get your skis waxed up and we'll see you out there!

    the Groomers.
